It All Begins With an Idea

Founded in 2016, Gel Systems Canada Inc. was determined to engineer a system to mix, load, and deploy our extinguishing product FireGel, which has since evolved to FG-2 Ready-To-Use Gel.

Throughout the past decade, Gel Systems Canada has successfully developed a fleet of fully mobile and self-contained equipment to blend and supply high volumes of gel on-site. The precise blending equipment can customize the viscosity of FG-2 Ready-To-Use Gel with extreme accuracy, providing flexible options to meet operational objectives and maximize effectiveness.

2026
Contract Extensions

SPSA extends their 3-year agreement with Gel Systems Canada through to 2029. Gel Systems becomes the exclusive supplier of FireIce 561 and HVB-Fx, expanding their services to include fixed wing air tankers.

2025
Wildfire Deployment

Gel Systems Canada deployed by SPSA to 17 locations, using FG-2 RTU Gel to protect homes, critical infrastructure, and aid direct attack operations by ground and helicopter. In 2025, GSC mixed and delivered over 4.5 million litres of FG-2 RTU Gel, with no reports of property or environmental safety issues.

2022-2024
Equipment R&D Continues

Research and development on mixing, delivery, and loading equipment based on feedback from live wildfire events.

2021
First Fire Deployment

Continued work with SPSA with the first use of gel for ground application on the BELL fire near Carrot River, demonstrating that gel products are effective in ground-based applications. GSC and the SPSA began the development of a system that overcomes logistical hurdles and tactics previously not available to any agency.

2019
Product Testing Continues

Tested and demonstrated the capabilities of gel-based products for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) in Chico, California.

2017-2019
Product Studies

GSC participated in a three-year study by the Colorado Centre of Excellence for Advnaced Aerial Firefighting. The study focused on evaluating the effectiveness of water enhancers for use in Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATS) in Colorado and concluded favourable results. They specifically referenced GSC's patented mixing equipment as "the fastest, cleanest, and most precise system we used for mixing these products during this study... and should be considered for use where multiple loading pits might be used and/or when loading large air tankers since this device is specifically designed to accomodate those operations."

2018
Product Testing

Tested and demonstrated the capabilities of gel-based products at the OSFS SEATS base in Ronan, Montana.

2017
Partnerships

Worked with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA), loading heavy air tankers out of the Prince Albert, La Ronge, and Meadow Lake air tanker bases for use in direct attack applications.

2016
Company Founded

Gel Systems Canada Inc. was founded in Saskatchewan, Canada.
