About FG-2 Ready-To-Use Gel
FG-2 Ready-To-Use Gel is the extinguishing product exclusive to Gel Systems Canada.
Medium-term fire retardant that is most effective when paired with our advanced blending
Used at an approximate ratio of 0.5% FG-2 Dry Concentrate to 99.5% water
Increases water efficiency, enabling crews to accomplish more with the same personnel and equipment
About FG-2 Dry Concentrate
FG-2 Dry Concentrate is a water enhancer, blended with water at the recommended rate prior to application.
Super absorbent polymer (SAP) with high absorbency and non-toxic properties
Creates an environmentally benign and extremely effective firefighting gel when blended with water
Approved as a water enhancer under various trade names by the United States Forest Service for over 20 years for wildland fire management via fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and ground applications
About FireIce 561 & FireIce HVB-Fx Dry Powder Polymer
FireIce is a super absorbent water enhancer qualified by the USFS.
Dry concentrate that is a stable, proven product with extended maintenance-free shelf life
Rigorous testing by the USFS, Colorado Center of Excellence for Advanced Technology Aerial Firefighting, and FP Innovations
Qualified for use in multi- and single-engine air tankers, ground, and helicopter operations
Colourant
Available in clear or Xtreme blue
Highly visible to pilots and ground crews to ensure complete coverage while reducing accidental repeat applications
Safe for animals and the environment
UV degradable and fades within several days with sun exposure
Viscosity
Using the correct viscosity of our gel allows for proper coverage, penetration, and adhesin to surfaces
Our portable precision blending technology delivers a high-quality product in large volumes with tailored viscosity
Higher application rates at a higher viscosity will provide protection for longer than lighter application rates at lower viscosity
Pre-Treatment Application
Potential applications include power grid infrastructure and values protection, fire guard/dozer break reinforcement, and wet line development for back burning
A high viscosity gel (thick) is effective for pre-treatment
A thick, protective wet layer sticks on the surface and helps reduce evaporation from hours to multiple days depending on environmental and application conditions.
Direct Attack Treatment
Potential applications include direct knockdown of flames via handlines or cannon trucks, supporting dozer breaks, rotary-wing applications
Thin viscosity achieves better fuel penetration and greatly reduces reignition
Rapid knockdown of flames is possible because of the low evaporation rate of gel compared to water alone
